What I'm calling the beach bikini could also
be considered the classic bikini. The bikini first appeared
in 1947 on French beaches and shocked the world, although
two-piece swimsuits had been appearing on American beaches
in the early 40's. Since they have gradually become skimpier
and skimpier. But those first women who braved public condemnation
have to be admired for their bravery. Now we are a liberated
society and, although as a society we still harbour inhibitions
with regard complete nakedness, the female form is celebrated
and the allure of feminine sensuality is used to promote and
sell products and services that bear no relationship to women
or beauty. The bikini is still an iconic image and perhaps
has played no small part in womens liberation.
Beauty is only skin deep, but the bikini enhances
a ladies natural sensual femininity and reaches to the very
core of a man's heart... But if it is not his heart you are
looking to reach, the bikini is guaranteed to spark other
essential organs too... ;-)
